چکیده
This paper studies the impact of Demand-pull (DP) and Technology-push (TP) on growth, innovation, factor bias technological change in a two-layer network input–output (market) patent citation (innovation) links among 307 6-digit US manufacturing industries 1977–2012. Two types TP DP are distinguished: (1) between-layer spillovers when market demand shocks pull innovation pushes growth. (2) Within-layer arises if downstream users trigger upstream while effects spill over from up- to industries. The results support between- within-layer TP: Innovation drive growth innovation. Within market, supply stimulate but this effect differs across is not supported shows favoring labor, comes with shift towards non-production work. strongest after 2000s shed light drivers recent its bias.

Technology Push, Demand Pull And The Shaping Of Technological Paradigms - Patterns In The Development Of Computing Technology
An assumption generally subscribed in evolutionary economics is that new technological paradigms arise from advances is science and developments in technological knowledge. Demand only influences the selection among competing paradigms, and the course the paradigm after its inception. In this paper we argue that this view needs to be adapted. We demonstrate that in the history of computing tech...
متن کاملDemand Pull and Technology Push Effects in the Quality Ladder Model
This paper extends the standard quality ladder model of innovation and quality growth by allowing for heterogeneous industries. This enables us not only to deal with the Schumpeterian hypothesis about market power and innovation, but also to analyze industry specific demand pull and technology push effects. In accordance with the empirical evidence, we show that perspective of large market powe...
متن کاملThe impact of endogenous demand on push-pull production systems
Though often analyzed separately, supply chain instability and customer demand interact through product availability. We investigate the feedback between supply chain performance and demand variability in a model grounded in a first-hand study of the hybrid push–pull production system used by a major semiconductor manufacturer. While customers’ response to variable service levels represents an ...
متن کاملDemand pull and technology push perspective in technology-based innovations for the points of sale: The retailers evaluation
Despite the consumers' increasing demand of technology-based innovations for making stores more appealing and the huge availability of advanced technologies, there is still a lack of research on the retailers' and employees' points of views towards the introduction of these systems. In fact, an efficient innovation should take care of both the final users/consumers' and the retailers/employees'...
متن کاملFeedback in computer assisted pronunciation training: technology push or demand pull?
In this paper, we examine the type of feedback that currently available Computer Assisted Pronunciation Training (CAPT) systems provide, with a view to establishing whether this meets pedagogically sound requirements. We show that many commercial systems tend to prefer technological novelties that do not always comply with pedagogical criteria and that despite the limitations of today’s technol...
